What program were you reading the EXIF data with? I'm guessing it wasn't ZB, Eos Utilities or DPP.

Since Exif is standardized as to what all the bits mean in the different fields, it's one of two possibilities:

1) Program coding error
2) User handling error

Take your pick. :D
