Ok I have a model friend who asked me about being a model like the girls in FHM. Her big concern with being able to do this is that she is fairly short and wasnt sure if that mattered. Now aftering thinking about this I real dont know if it does. she has the looks and physic to do that type of work and I'll be shooting with her soon. But I havent done any major work for publication in that type of photography so dont know what to tell her. If any of you photogs who are currently shooting for those type of mags could give me an idea about this that would be great. thanks

"fairly short" could be different heights for different types of uses. Proportions & projected personality would be more important?

She's probably around the 5'6 height. She is already a model and does great work especialy swim wear she has an amazing body and face I just didnt know if the magazine models where generally taller.

I just didnt know if the magazine models where generally taller. Nobody else looking at the shots (visualize moving lips as they read the captions) will know, or care, either? :D
Unless they're trying to make a product look bigger/smaller by comparison.
FYI, some models specialize in just hands, feet, etc where size might make a difference, too.

For solo shoots she'll be fine. I know several models who have been in magazines like FHM and Maxim who are as short as 5'3"!!!
As long as she's in proportion and looks good in photographs, she should be fine.

You could also lengthen her legs slightly in PP
