Hey all:

I'm in the process of setting up an at home photo studio, and was wondering what everybody's thoughts were on the use of egg-crate grids versus louvers to direct light from softboxes. Are they equivalent, or does one have an advantage over the other?

Thanks,

Chuck

Well, for me, I prefer grids on a hairlight, and louvers on kickers. Either one will reduce the chance of lens flare, but the grid will give a more "focused" light while the louver excels in flare reduction.
