Hey all:

I just came from the camera shop where I spent too much money on the Canon off-camera shoe cord 2. I popped it into my 420ex and it works fine. So now I'm trying to get it off and it REALLY seems to be stuck. I'm trying to be delicate because it's all plastic but am I missing something here? I can't imagine trying to get this thing off and on in a high pressure situation. This is possibly the stupidest question ever but how do I get this thing off my flash?

J.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an idiot. I just had to tighten the lock to create more leverage to get it off. Sorry. Carry on.

you've loosened the hold down thumbscrew thing on the flash right? If so then just slide them apart, it might take some force but it'll come off.

I experienced the same thing on the 580. Put your thumbs on the locking ring and your index fingers behind as if you were rolling a cigarette or whatever. Pull your fingers towards you and push the shoe away with the joints of your thumbs. Good luck.

I think that we have all done things like that, but I am not one to steal the limelight away from you so I'll just drop it at that.
