Greets all,

On a recent outing to Sedona, I of course captured quite a few images. This was one of my first real forays out into the world with my new Rebel XT.

I thought this image turned out rather striking and was wondering if I could get some of your comments on it. Is it any good? Does it have any artistic merit? Color/contrast/lighting/exposure?!?

Thanks,
Ken

I know nothing about "artistic merit". I know what I like and don't like. I think the important thing is whether you like it. The rest is only important if you are turning it in for a class assignment or trying to sell it. Having said all that, it isn't my cup of tea.

Welcome to the Forums!!!
It's a nice shot to start with, perhaps next time don't have the car/wreck so central and play about with composition a bit. Keep on shooting and sharing!! :D

First off, hello and welcome ;)

the tree looks to be more in focus than the car front.
I like how the backgroung color brings out the rust in the car front.
I think the highlights on the top of the car are distracting.
I may have added a bit more contrast.

Maybe if we could see more of the tree and background, I'm not sure.

As far as artistist merit goes, I'm new myself so I have no idea.

This is of course just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions ;)

Keep shooting until your happy with the outcome, thats what counts. If your shooting for others, as long as they're happy ;)

Thanks for the feedback!

Here was another that I thought was fairly interesting, it looks like the cross from the top of the church is stabbing her :)
