Was at a chilly Brands Hatch on Saturday for the start of the new BTCC (and Support) season! Crowds were a little less than I expected but the on-track action was full, particularly the Clio's which had over 50 entries!! Lots of practice and qualifying with 3 races to end the day, one Porsche and two Clio.

As I mentioned in another thread I thought there was quite a lot of "media" people there, much more than normal, especially for a Saturday. Quite a few of the usual faces but quite a few people I haven't seen before. One dude seemed to be using £80 compact camera - complete with neck strap! Rock on!

Here's a few compressed "forum friendly sized" photos...

#1 James Pickford gets his foot down out of Paddock...

#6 Jason Plato pushing hard into Druids... now this shot was actually taken using my mates Nikon D70 (sorry for swearing!!) and Sigma 24-70 (I think) Sigma lens. Not as good as the Canon lol

Nice stuff Az, I see the Clio's are living up to their reputation. Any idea how Simon Blanckley got on in his first BTCC race?

Cheers

Fine shots! Were they done with the 100-400 in your sig, or a different lens?

Nice work there Az. Re the abundance of "Media" types...there did seem to be rather a lot. Every other shot on the TV coverage had a white MSV bib in it but very few seemed to be carrying anything approaching professional kit.....perhaps they exchange media access for packets of Miracle-Gro to repair DrP's grass ;)

3 races, 3 finishes Ian. Dave's given the positions but due to the lack of testing mileage it was effectively an extended test session for the team. They're getting help from Team Dynamics so they should get some better results later in the season :)

Yes, with the 100-400. I'm looking at getting a slightly smaller zoom to compliment it, maybe a Sigma 50-150 or 70-200. It's not so good at the 100mm end.

Cheers!

Go for the 70-200. I'm sure the 50-150 is a fine lens but AFAIK it's a DC lens so it'll be useless if you ever go to a 1 series...
