Our 50mm lenses. We had them shipped from the USA to the netherlands and still were half the price we would have paid in the dutch shops...

How much did you pay for them, out of interest? And where did you get them from?
Cheers
:)

Indeed B&H, for 64 dollar and a couple of cents. They are at least 120 euro here and most often 150 euro.

Bought mine in the netherlands for 110 euro at Konijnenberg. They had it in stock! Lucky me...

Congrats! And to the headline.. I hate getting political in forums, since there's probably a lot of different political oppinions here, and we really shouldn't let such ruin a great photo-forum like this, but... "Ladies and gentlemen, we got him".. I was laying on a madass hangover as sh*t on the floor, with lots of (my own) puke around me, in front of my sisters TV when I woke to that sentence. My first reaction to it was: "Ooh geez, not a Clint Eastwood movie this early?" When I realized who said it, and why, I thought "Oh my god, the've probably studied old Dirty-Harry movies all night long, to manage to formulate the sentence _THIS_ "harry"".. Something beeing "Harry" probably is a Norwegian thing, and it's hard to explain the meaning of, and few if any, know exactly where the phrase "beeing harry" have originated from, but I'm 90% sure it'll have to come from the Dirty Harry movies, if that can make any sense to people not familiar with the phrase :-P

Maybe it was a bit too political indeed but it was just a way of showing how glad i was that i finally got them. Some of you know how long these were out of stock for a long time and the shipment of this package took longer than the previous one. It was the first that came in my mind when the mailman handed them over. Sorry if i offended anyone.

Haha, dont get me wrong. That post was no way meant to harm you! Sorry if I made you feel "guilty" or something. It was just the headline gave me associations back to when they captured Saddam. And political or not, but the opening-sentence they then gave, have made me roll around laughing at the floor several times =D

How much in customs duties did you have to pay?

How much in customs duties did you have to pay?
That shall depend on the country your ordering to. For Norway, we got 24% import-tax, so the B&H import-formula look like this:
(B&H-price + freight) * 1.24
So for a $1000 lens with $50 UPS-delivery, it will look like this:
(1000 + 50) * 1.24 = (1050) * 1.24 = 1302

I had to pay 71 euro duties + tax for these 5 lenses. Duties is 6.7 percent and tax in the netherlands is 19 percent.
each lens costed about 65 dollar and thats about 55 euro.
55x5 = 275 euro.
(275 x 1.067 x 1.19) - 275 = 74 euro.
Normally you have to pay tax on the shipping too so it seems i'm lucky this time.
I now saw that both konijnenberg and kamera-express are offering this lens for 110 euro. And each lens with shipping duties + tax costed me 72 euro. Thats 38 euro saved.
