i like the black frames better - the colored ones draw me away from the image.

I agree I think the black frames keep you more focused on the photograph.

Definately go with the black ones. It does the job with no distraction :D

I agree for the red one. The red bird in the black frame looks as if it is about to escape through the frame and fly into my face. The red bird in the red frame seems to be trapped. Sorry... can't explain it better.

However, for the blue bird, this is different. I like the blue frame and the black frame, but somehow the colors of the bird seem to be nicer in the blue frame.

Jerry,
I'm only giving you honest opinion - whilst I like the frames you have produced I would prefer just to see a plain border rather than give it a 3D effect.
Its also effected your images too (unless its my monitor) but the top and right edges have a slight shadow on them which would be correct if it was a real frame but its a simulated one.

I just feel that it could ruin an image - but that's just my honest, humble opinion.

I personally don’t like frames unless it’s a picture IM not going to put in a real wood frame. :) If I were to pick as is with no printing future, I would pick the colored frames.
I don’t think the quality or shadows changed from the two styles.

I like the picks BTW

I generally like frames though I never bother with mine. I'd rather have the space for the image.

I feel that frames should be small & simple. I also think they should be more like mattes rather than frames - use a color that highlights and compliments the image. A black frame is going to simply make things darker, whereas a complimentary color can bring out or highlight a specific object. For instance the bluejay/blue frame - the color closely matches the shade of blue on the back. If the subject where smaller then a frame of the right color could be used to bring more focus to the subject.

But simpler is better. These are too much.

Speaking of frames does anyone know of a PS plugin that will add frames like this and let you try different shades and layouts?
