View Full Version : Dafodil in the dark...

Last month I was trying to shoot some dafodils in my garden. This was one of the first I shot, and then by accident my flash went of. This made the background very dark. (But it was daytime!) After comparing the various pictures I actually liked the "accident" best. I took it into Photoshop and tried to work on a crispy look. I even blended the picture with an embossed version of itself to get a strong relief. Also I further darkened the picture just to focus on getting nice colors on the flower.
Maybe I've overdone things, but still I like to throw it in here to hear your feedback. Thanks in advance:

I think the composition is strong, with the three flowers in a triangle. I can't decide about the light/dark thing. I think I like the effect, but I don't like the harsh light on the front flower, which you have to have with the flash....

I like the shot and effect. The only thing that is just a tad off in my eyes is the white fungus???? on the green stem just above the flower on the main subject.
Maybe the flash dot on the background flower is a lil off.
I think its a great shot, its just the flower seems damaged.

I think the "fungus" is the thin skin of the flower where it meets the stem. If you peel it off it looks kind of unnatural too.
