Hello!
I am having a problem setting up the software for my 10D. I want to shoot remotely from my computer and it's not letting me!
I can "connect to the camera", but after that I can't take a test shot (or any shot for that matter). It says the "camera has been disconnected", on the computer and the camera says "err 99".
Can anyone help?

Just a WAG (Wild Arse Guess) here with explaination...
The flashtrax drive I have is really fussy about disconnection from USB. Have you "safeley removed it" before? There is this arrow pointing about 210 deg (left of due south) at an "L" shaped object in the taskbar. You might need to safely disconnet it before using the camera again. The flashtrax drive is weird about it like that but resetting power sorts it.
Just an idea...

I'll take a wild ass guess.
You might try re-installing your Canon software, especially the Canon WIA device driver.
It sounds remotely like you had it installed, and it tried to work once, then (according to my theory) the computer couldn't use the device driver right, so it called the camera disconnected. Now it still claims that the camera is disconnected, even though it is a logical disconnect, not a physical disconnect. I assume that you've ruled out a bad USB cable.

You haven't said if you have the latest capture software.
and which OS you are using.

Try loading this. Mine works fine under XP.

Yes, I failed to mention some minor details....I'm running Mac OS 10.2.8, the Canon software is version 5.0 (that occurred to me later - is this an old version?). Also, I'm shooting with strobe. So the PC cable and the USB are connceted simultaneously.
And - PS - I have no idea what a 'flash trax drive' is.
I will certainly try re-installing the software, and yes I'm sure my cable's ok. It works perfectly for other functions.
Thanks for your help!

Hi,
On my laptop it works but I hardely use it due to the incredible slow USB1 interface.
It could be that your camera goes into standby and than disconnects ?
Greetings,
Frank
