Hey, I new here.

I've been doing photography in school for a year and I've gotten used to the normal 35mm setup. However I want to move into digital photography and I dont want to lose the control I have with a normal camera. The only cameras I can find are these canons which cost well over $1000, even at bhphotovideo.com.

My question is, is there a cheaper camera where I still have control? I don't care too much about a super high resolution or spiffy features, I just want to be able to do the same things I can on my 35mm.

Thanks,

Ben

Also it would be nice to have the ability to change lenses and have a high storage capacity. Thanks.

Why not a G2? Very capable but still well under $1000.

If you want to change lenses, you will have to go quite a bit more money than you probably want to spend. If you can do without the lenses, a G2 would be OK. You can use a teleconverter for a bit more zoom if needed. However, but the time you add all the costs together you might be able to pick up a used D30 (the D60 is the rage) for relatively close to the price of a new G2.

Look for a used D30. From what you say you won't be satisfied with less. Post your needs to other digital forums. There are plenty of bargains out there as D30 users upgrade to D60s and 1Ds.
