I played around with Lightroom a bit for the first time last night, and here's what became of it. C&C are very welcome... knock yourselves out ;-)

like the over saturated sharp look.
2nd is over sharpened.

Cliff- Yeah, I basically used the 'Direct Positive' preset, which seems to heavily saturate and sharpen the image, I'm assuming to emulate slide film. Tweaked it a bit, and that's what I came up with. Is the second one the one you're referring to? They both crops of two different shots.
In the interest of improving my PP skills... question: at what point would you consider an image over sharpened? I've seen what happens when you waaaay over sharpen things, but where do you draw the line?

when the sharpening interferes with the small details and or halos and artifacts appear.
In the second shot the trees are showing the first and the water the second.

I circled some of the over sharpened areas.
There are a couple small areas in the first in the trees but its minor.
