Hi all. I have a question for those of you that sell your photos. What price do you charge? Do you charge so much per size like 8x10, 5x7, 4x6, etc ?
And are there any kind of legalities that I need to know? I was out shooting a Martin Luther King parade a while back, and my Pastor happened to see me shooting, because he was a part of the parade. The following Sunday, he asked could I do some photos for the different church functions that we have. Which is fine with me...so I agreed. But the other members found out that I can shoot, and now they want me to shoot different things for them. Portraits, kids, maybe some weddings, but i'm not comfortable with weddings yet. So any way, I was wondering on prices. Any info you can give me would be awesome. And sorry for such a long post.

Many thanks in advance :D

This is a lot like the question "How much should I sell my car for"?
Lot's of factors involved, for instance, where do you live? The same pic in New York will go for several times what you'll get in Beulah, ND. (I once spent $12 for a room in their only hotel - total for two nights!)

Do some research on prices in your area. You should get a good range of suggestions here, but it will still come down to what you feel comfortable with given the end use & your experience level.

Not so much for portraits & kids, but for one-time events you'd better be sure that you don't screw up! If you don't feel comfortable taking a job, then don't take it for money. Maybe do the first few new types of work for "costs" (Read: "introductory offers"). If/when you have more work than you can handle, then it's time to raise your prices. Always try to deliver more than the client expects. Always CYA, so that you do.

So, deliver like a pro, & have fun doing it. Good luck.
