Man have I shot some pics =D This week have been amazing for me.. I went to the gathering (TG) (words largest computer party) last Tuesday, as a member of the "Content"-crew. (which I've been several years before). Content-crew is responsible for producing content on www.gathering.org. This year they also wanted to have a "semi-dedicated" photography-position in crew, so I got it, since it's related to my existing crew-position already.
As things went on, everything turned perfect for me! Everybody loved my shots beyond my wildest dreams! My teamleader and other members where bragging so much about my pictures to the other crews up there that I got real embearessed (really).. Just hoping there where non "real" photographers there listening :-P But anywas, it was a real thrill that they liked my shots :) I was real nervous too, cause except candids, I was there to shoot some events. We hosted two quite big concerts up there, and also the first round in the European-Cup of Dance-Dance-Revolution (DDR) (first arcade-game which have been accepted as a sport) with 60 participants from all over Europe. So major room for major screwups there was indeed =D
But it went fine actually. I had good positions, so I shot all of them with my 50mm f/1.4, and it was a real killer for the job :) I also tried some with the sigma 70-200 f/2.8 further away, but none of them could rival my up-close 50mm shots. Mostly due to blur from the "slow" aparture. As the party went on, our press-crew.. Yeah, we have to have own people to take care of the press, cause we got tens of newspapers/tv-stations up there each day covering this.. Anyways, the press-crew was so impressed with the shots, they insisted on putting up a press-gallery, so that the press could just use my pics, as long as I got the byline in the papers. That way they didn't have to have photographers staying late at night (when the events usually happened). I have no idea if, and if so, how many papers used my shots this year, but at least we plan this a bit better next year, so I can get copies of the papers :)
I don't know what more to say now... I've shot 2000 pics the last week, nearly as much as I had shot with my 10D before this party =P And of course I'm real tired. Probably slept less than 15hours the last 7 days, and had way to little food, and way to much cola and beer :-P You can see some of my work, not necesseraly the best according to my own taste (I wasn't always the one choosing the pics for the web) at our website-gallery:

Except the first 7, all pictures are taken by me. If anyone wonders who that "David Fox" guy is, he's the guy we "named" this years TG after as a tribute. We named our TG this year "Rescue of Fractalus", which really is a tribute to this Ex-lucas-arts game-developers "Rescue on Fractalus". He found out about or party, and mailed out of curiosity. When he found out it really was a tribute, he flew over from the U.S to be with us, and holding two seminars on game-development. He was a former developer for Lucas-arts, developing titles as Rescue on Fractalus, and "Zak McKracken", great guy!
Also be sure to check out our articles, I've been somewhat involved with most of them too:
