I got a nice surprise the other day, my wide converter I bought with my G3 fits the 58mm lens thread on my new 300D (18-55mm). There is a large vignette but even cropped the images are nice and wide. I was never very good at working out the focal lengths so I don't know what the coupling produces, it just look sgreat!

the wide angle of you kit lens is an an euivelent 28.8mm. multiply by
the (Canon?) tcon .75... you get 21.6mm wide angle.
