A store in London is selling a EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM for around £500 to £600 cheaper than the non-grey product. What's wrong with that?

The only issue with grey is who will service it during warranty. If you buy grey the dealer will be the service agent or you will have to pay for service. I just bought a Import ( grey market) lens from B&H. They are the service agent. I also bought a 3 year extended warranty (Mack) The lens came off the same assy line as the ones sold here. I saved enough to get a filter, shipping, and a 3 year warranty :D ... Its the same lens as a USA warrantied item.

The price difference between Grey and USA on that lens at B&H is $50 US. ( $0 US after $50 rebate on USA version) What's wrong with the Grey one your considering buying?

Never had a problem with sending the "grey market"
to Canon for warranty work. They never asked. Maybe
I shouldn't be posting this
Oh well, they hate me at Canon anyway !

So the UK one looks good? For a saving of £500 I think the risk of a repair is something I could cope with. Is it possible they are selling refurbished or seconds (poor standard) product?

Since the actual price difference Grey vs. US, from a reputable dealer is negligible, or none with the rebate, I would be very concerned as to why the Grey lens you are looking at is so much cheaper then the US version.

Hmmmmm

Why is life (photography) so full of anomalies? B&W or Colour, RAW or JPEG, Nikon or Canon, Film or Digital, C1 or Breeze.... Gray or... Not Gray, a life or an L lens.....

Things used to be so simple
