Jim did you go with f/22 in order to get the shutter speed to 1/8 so you could blur the car, or did you use f/22 for some other reason?

I think this might be the perfect UWA for my 1D2. If I wanted to use filters, such as ND's and CPL's, would it be possible to use with this lens?

You can use them at 20mm on a full-frame camera, but anything less will give you vignetting.

NDs are easy, use panels. CPLs are tricky because they need to be massive or you need to zoom in a bit. Not sure on a 1.3 crop where that number is, but it's close to 20mm on FF.

Hi Danny,
The first one has 3 x 300w Ianiro Guliver lights, one with gel, two with diffusion. The second has one 300w lamp behind the subject and one to my left (hence the annoying shadow). :)

I can't wait to get a full frame camera body so I can take advantage of this lese. I really love it so far. It may not be the sharpest, but it still makes some fantastic images.

I just got my 12-24 today... I traded my 8-16 to MrLA for this one... I was planning to purchase the 12-24 II... but in the little bit of playing I did this afternoon, I think I'll be happy with Version I of this lens....
It's all rainy and crappy outside... so I've just been attacking my wife with it so far...

I took the lens out yesterday to see how well flare was controlled and how it handled color/contrast rendition in direct(harsh) sunlight....
Here, the sun is just out of frame in the top right...

and here, the sun is front and center.

I was amazed at how well the lens handles flare, and how much detail it manages to pull, even in direct sunlight. The bottom shot is at f/8 with no lens corrections applied in post, and the top shot is wide open at 12mm with lens correction applied. One thing I've noticed is that with lens correction applied in Lightroom, the entire frame tends to end up at about +1 EV compared to not having the lens correction applied. I think perhaps the lens correction is a bit overdone in trying to remove vignetting.

I have the version 2 (there's no thread for it that I can find), it's a really fun lens, if there is one lens that I think takes some time to get to know, for me, it's this one. Can't just shoot it like most my other lenses. It handles direct sunlight really well, but lights to the sides of the lens will introduce flare....It's pretty darn sharp for an ultrawide, but sharp really isn't what this lens is about. I saw a video (HERE) (http://youtu.be/Y0s2Q_JlPcE) from Ben Jacobsen (jacobsen1) on you tube showing how to rig this lens for filters and I'm for sure gonna give it a go (Thanks Ben, you're a real inspiration)......I have really fallen for this lens, it's like having a smart girlfriend.....I really have to think about what I'm doing before I do it.....Here's a few all on my 5DmkII...
