I can not say enough positive about the Canon DSLRs. We took a trip out to Joshua Tree National Park for a few days. It was kind of a test trip (got a 1DS a couple weeks ago) and instructional trip for my wife to get to better understand the 10D. All I can say is wow. Some of the images she was clicking off with the 10D and a 100mm macro are amazing. Unfortunately you don't really get the full impact until you start looking at them with a large display in full resolution.

Here are some of the images. If you want to see any of them in full res, drop me a line and I'll park a few someplace on the web for you.

Look through your images and they look great.
Mr. Snake would have made me mess myself!

You make me feel bad. I was going to go up there last weekend but got my arm twisted substantially enough to convince me that I had to stay home and work. I live fairly close to Joshua Tree and find it really ridiculous that in three years, I've never made it up there. Last week was the closest I've come so far.

Those are great pictures. I hope the snake picture was taken with a very long lens and/or you had your escape route planned well in advance.

Good job.

Thanks for the compliments. As for the snake, it was near our car and the picture was taken from inside the car. There were a few others out as well. So if you are headed up that way, keep an eye open. At dusk we commonly saw them crossing the roads or hanging out on the blacktop for warmth.

Nice photos..looks like a great trip.

You do realize Mr. Snake is a rattlesnake, right? Looks like a Speckled Rattler from what I can see...nasty little bite.

Anyway, nice photos. You are a lucky guy. Your wife shares your passion for photography and goes on these trips with you. She's a keeper. A nice looking keeper, too.....well done!

I passed through the Cottonwood Springs gate of Joshua Tree on March 24, and the desert dandlions were in a pale yellow carpet all over. Some beavertail cactus was in bloom. The Joshua trees were blooming in some places.
