Hi,
I've just installed Exhibit Engine and trying to find my way around using it. In the beginning it seems a bit complex to use and my question is about uploading fotos.

In the installation, I see a folder called D30 photos with a number of subfolders. Amongst these subfolders are the foldres microthumb and thumb.

Basically, I'm not sure how and where to upload my fotos to. Do I make a new folder for each exhibition and then make two sizes of my fotos? One for the microthumb folder and one for the thumb folder and then upload these sets to the respective folder? And in which folder do I put the originals?

I also see that when viewing a foto, one can choose different sizes or percentages. Does the tool automatically resize the fotos?

Thanks a lot for any help you can give.
Regards

Have you setup your paths (Settings - Path Setup) in EE?

If you have defined your sizes here, Normal,Thumb, Microthumb and you have ftp server setup (Settings - ftp server setup)

You need to create an Exhibition and assign the Thumb and Microthumb directories, assigning these values is on the same screen where you define the exhibition.

What you need to do then is setup the default photodata (Exhibitions - Set Default Photodata) - Define the values you want here and make sure you pick the appropriate "Default Size path for this exhibition" (bottom of the screen)

What I do then is I FTP using an FTP client (WS_FTP) or alike to your GALLERY/xxxx/UPLOAD/ directory and from there you can use STEP 2 in (Photos - UPLOAD TO DATABASE) alternatively you can use STEP 1 and skip using the FTP Client.

Once you get used to the steps it only takes a minute or so to create a new exhibition, I have over 50 defined.

I hope this helps!

Hi photocroatia,

Thanks for the reply and help.

I think I'm beginning to understand how the tool works. I've been able to setup two exhibitions with your help.

What I don't understand is where you say that you upload the fotos and use STEP 2 (Photos - Upload to Database) or Step 1.

Maybe it's because I'm using version 1.22?

thanks again

If you go to - "PHOTOS - UPLOAD TO DATABASE"

You will see header "STEP 1 : send photos to server upload folder", you can use this option to upload from your PC

or

heading "STEP 2 : select photos from server upload folder" you this option if you used an FTP client to upload you photos.

I use STEP 2 as generally I upload more then 2 photos at a time.

I hope this is cleared.

I think I didn't see it b'cos I'm using an older version of EE. I'll download the version 1.5 and all the fixes and set it up.

Thanks
