I have a lawn chair set up in the front yard. I'll be sitting out there till it comes. Isn't it amazing how hard it's been to get information on this?

If its coming by USPS you may want to call it a day and look for it tomorrow - they are all busy accepting tax returns today!

I think I'm going to go wait at the docks in Long Beach and see if the boat load of Mk IIs shows up there.......

There was NEVER a set date by Canon. Canon only said first US shipments by late April. It's not late April yet.
My guy at CDW says May 10. I'll bet he's going to be very close to the right delivery date.

This sounds like the same thing Nikon did with the D70 announced it and didn't deliever for a long time. People here didn't like Nikon for doing this and cried foul, but Canon oh mighty Canon can get away with the same thing and people accept it. We are a fickle crowd!

I was in my local camera store today, and noticed that they actually had some inventory...a 10D and two Digital Rebels. This poor guy has been going through the tortures of the damned trying to get cameras to sell over the last several months.
I asked him what had changed, and he said he had a new Canon Rep, and she was actually being helpful for a change. We got on the subject of the 1D Mk II, and he said she told him that the first units were already promised to professional photojournalists (i.e. magazines and newspapers). Moreover, she told him that Canon didn't think they'd be able to start filling consumer orders for at least three months.
Sounds a little far-fetched to me, but being the ever-faithful messenger, I thought I'd pass it along.

Quiet a way to make an entrance to a canon forum...

More to the point,. I did not read a single word about the delivery time of the D70 on THIS forum?
Were we even paying attention ?

It probably doesn't matter anyway - this is a Canon forum; there's not a lot of concern here for what the #2 camera maker does. :D
PS - anybody think that mthorp might be posting from NZ? Similar style to someone else from that area.......

Yup. Trolling under a different handle. It's all crap anyway. Canon's delivery "date" has not come and gone so his point is well...pointless.

My thoughts exactly. I have a feeling he is a shmuck from the www.hardforums.com photography section where theft and snide remarks are common.

Sorry if I've offended anyone, all these forum seam to blur into one another. On a lot of pages people gave Nikon a hard time about delievery dates, it could have been this one I've been surfing all the pages on digital cameras as I'm looking to purchase one.
I like the looks of the 1d Mk2 but my wife would shoot me. So it basically comes down to three models, possibley four if I wait until Minolta launches the Dynax digital.

I don't come from New Zealand so have no idea what you are talking about. And I'm not a member of any other forums. The review section of the one in the links above looks pretty interesting.

Folks,. let's not run around cross burning every time somone arouses our suspicions now... :?
Mr. Davies,.. you just happended to post at the end of a delicate time, and a bit of an apology may be in order.
In a nutshell,. the forum has recently "Banned" it;s first ever individual for continued harassment etc.. on these forums,. it occured on the same day that you posted.. and I think a few were a little to quick to jump to conclusions.
If anyone ever does have suspicions of such a thing,. please PM a Moderator so we can check IP addresses etc..
Lastly Mthorpe,. a lot of aggravation can be avoided by a prodigious use of "smilies" when posting anything with a "sarcastic" nature :) :) :) 8)
