I will be travelling in the US this summer. Since I don't want to fuzz around with either a laptop nor a separate image storage device (e.g. x-drive) I wonder If I could just go to a computer shop or photo shop and ask them to have my picture burned on DVD so I could go on taking pictures with an empty card? I don't think that you that we have services like this in Germany, but may be in the land of plenty you do? Anyone has an idea?

Thanks
moffie

I've been to Spain, Italy, South-Africa and Vietnam and was able to copy my pictures to CD everywhere. It would be a big surprise to me when this service wouldn't be available in the US.

PeterS45,

Where in Italy were you? Did you have it done at photography shops or another type of store? Do you remember about how much it cost?

You can go to Walmart or any of the other stores (Walgreens, Osco, etc) that have Kodak photo machines for customer use.

These machines are designed to print photos for you (on a dye-sublimation printer) from your flash card or other media, but they also offer the ability to transfer images from the flash card to CD.

My wife just used this method to save photos while on vacation in Fla. After the pictures are put on CD, you can safely delete them from the flash card and start taking more shots.

I believe you can go to Kodak's web site and get a list of businesses that have these machines.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Peter and Brian. This sounds very promissing. Do you remember how much you paid for this service?

Do you remember how much you paid for this service?

It was $7.98 for the cd, I think they allowed up to 100 pictures transferred for that price. That may be more than you would have on one flash card, unless you are using large cards.
