I wonder if the Hoverfly is Portevinia maculata? It is not common but occurs in Bentley Long Wood near you and is associated with Ransoms.
Lovely shot of the Wolf, good resolution at f16 and DOF of course.

Do you think I'd be better off keeping my kit lens I'm using now (+close up filters), or would tubes with the 50mm 1.8 work better?
I was going to get the sigma 105mm macro but.... I'm a student!lol

You'll get sharper shots with the 50mm and ext tubes.

Lovely set of shots.
With regard to #1, that could well be a solitary bee by the face markings, it looks almost identical to the one I shot recently, except mine had its proboscis out
