A bit offtopic in this forum but what spam do you get? Is it human typed or could it be from a bot?

I'm admin on another (non photo) board and we got lotsa generated accounts. It seems that bots are creating accounts with reference to a website on random phpbb forums so that it will appear in the memberlist. search engines will index the memberlist and finds the links to their pages. For searchengines it appears to a be a popular site because so many pages link to it..

I see he registered just a few days ago. This is not getting off to a good start.

I didn't get a PM, but I did notice a pop-up the other day for some album software, and it could have only come from this site or one that I linked to from here. I killed it, and haven't seen another one since.

I have said it before, and I'll say it again - I truly appreciate the efforts of you and the other admins to keep this forum free of unwanted distractions (pop-ups, spam, etc.).

Some may consider me an unwanted distraction, but too bad - I'm here for the foreseeable future. :roll:

The only wothwhile mail I receive is spam and I object to your attempts to cut off my supply :o

I guess I made the short list too, as I got one. I did read it, but it didn't bother me so much. Since the request was for beta testers, I didn't really consider it advertising. However, I think that if I started getting numerous unsolicited PM's on a regular basis, I would be annoyed.
