EF-S 17-85mm IS err 99

To day, i see a error 99 display on my Rebel XT with 17-85IS, I find out that it was happened when wide 17-->30mm, It's find from 30-->85mm. I think this is the lens error.

I tried to push DOF test button at F16 that it was not working properly from 17-30mm, I saw the aperture blade inside was stuck until switch the camera off.

I talk to the repair man, he said that the 17-85IS was usually broken a small thin cable inside the lens and had to replace a new cable for fixing this problem.

Do you face this same issue yet?

Do any one open your lens and fix it yourself?

Does this happen even when the aperture is set to it's largest setting, smallest numeric value?

I have just rechecked the lens again and know that

It only works fine when it is set to F4.

It also works fine at any aperture seting when it set to long zoom 30 or 35 to 85mm

The err 99 constant display form F4.5 at wide focal 17->30 or 35mm
