Hi PekkaM

Is this the link you where looking for:

http://www.orchideen-kartierung.de/Macro100E.html

The Tamron does indeed do well. I am not sure how accurate the test is tough as i own the Sigma 105mm and think it is sharp throughout its range... in fact every time i use this lens i am astonished by its sharpness.

Good luck with the Tamron. Its supposed to be great also

I would not put too much stock into this review as the Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro lens I have is much much sharper then the results shown in the review.

Extremely impressed that you picked up a german link on your first post but wonder what an Isirh Nut is?

One thing that came up: Does the 1.6-factor also affect macro photography somehow? Like do I get with 1:1 macro a 21,875mm object to fill frame (35mm/1.6)?

You get 1:1.6

I wonder, does anyone have MP-E65? I'm trying to convince myself I don't need that luxury, but I think eventually I'll fail and buy it. :D

I thought of it for a while but soon realised I probably couldn't focus it on anything ;)

How does one achive those shots of flying bees etc. with few millimeters of depth of field anyway? Prefocus and lots of exposures?

I'm not gonna buy a dedicated flash for macro photography ever (yeah, right!) so I was wondering would my 550EX be any use with that Tamron lens if I used something like omnibounce on it?

Sorry Samdring, thats supposed to read Irish Nut. Thats a breed of nut that grows on a small island just to the west of the UK.

As for the German macro post..... I have been browsing and absorbing (this forum and a few others) for the last year or so. I had bookmarked it a while back when doing research on Macro lens. As it happens I didnt take the advice it gave on the Sigma 105mmf2.8 but instead borrowed a friends version and tested it and loved it.....!

PekkaM - I read an article (that i will try to dig up) on how one macro enthusiast photographs flying wasps etc.... he had a serious setup with big studio flashs etc... etc... If i can find it i will link it for you but maybe you can do it with cheaper equipment... not sure...!

Some people do it.

But my thought flow went the other way; the majority of SLR and compact users shoots in focal range of 17-300, few go above, fewer below, some buy a macro lens, but perhaps 1 in 10.000 would be crazy enough to get a MP-E 65 WITH Macro twin lite flash unit. However, the crazy one benefits from being able to take 'impossible shots'. MP-E is tack sharp at all apertures at all magnifications, well due to DOF issue it would always have to be the smallest aperture, but that is absolutely not a problem when using the twins which by the way offer some effects.
