Am I the only one to receive rude treatment from Canons Service Center in Irvine CA.

They are really giving me the run around on my 10d as to what repairs are required and when they may be completed. It's an "ERR 99" problem, kind of a catch all I think. :( tom

I've never worked at a Canon service center, but let me say that the Err 99 problem might be very frustrating for both the owner and also the repair technician.

First of all, they may or may not have gotten a clear complaint from the owner. You might have written it out for them, but that might have gotten separated from the actual camera by the time the technician got it.

Second, Err 99 might be the fault of the camera body, or the lens, or the connections between the two. Or, it might be something completely different.

So, I would think that there is a lot of ground for them to cover to try to reproduce the problem. From then, it might be very simple to fix it. But at the beginning of the course at the repair shop, they might not even know how to estimate the repair.

Hang on. Contact them on a weekly basis to ask for an update. Ask for a supervisor if necessary.

My experience is that they are VERY evasive about telling you what service is being done. They might tell you a MAJOR fault, but if you send it back and want to know what they did to try to fix it right the second time, they wont tell you. All my calls have been to NJ. I suspect corprate directives make everyones experience the same.
