Hey tonight im goin to the Stadium in Cardiff to watch Joe Calzaghe box. Now i want to take my 400d with me and my 90-300mm lens. Main quesion is what shooting modes should i be looking at. Should i be shooting at ISO 1600 or is that a bit much?

Has anyone done this kinda thing before. I should imagine they are going to close the roof as it will be quite nippy there. Any advice is appreciated.!

It's an HBO televised bout (I wanted that trip bad, but I digress) the lighting for it will be top notch as far as boxing goes. General settings for a televised bout like that will be somewhere in the range of iso 1000, f2.8, 1/500th of a second or so and tweak from there. Ring lights are tungsten based, so you can use that preset for your white balance, and that should set you in the right direction. Enjoy the fight...

pretty sure the 90-300 will not get the job done even at iso 1600 to be honest, its certainly not the fastest tool in the shed  i know the lights are better at boxing tv shows, but still have doubt's if they will be good enough tho. I am sure someone with more boxing knowledge will be able to tell you more m8 good luck if you do try but i think i would just enjoy what will be a cracking nights boxing. Sorry i cant be more encouraging but unless u can get ringside with a 24-70 f2.8  then you will struggle imho.

Steve.

I agree with your 90-300mm lens it simply will not be quick enough.

Good luck anyway and post some images
