Hi all!
I'm new to this forum. I once owned a Minolta analog camera which could trigger off a remote flash unit with the built-in flash. Is this possible with the D10 and the 550EX? (using the 550EX as a slave)??

Not as it is.

A 550EX on the camera will trigger another 550EX or a 420EX (I think.) If you want to use a single 550EX off the camera you're gonna need a ST-E2 transmitter. Then...
Since the ST-E2 can trigger up to two flashes you're gonna have to have.....

If the ST-E2 is like the Master in the 550 then it can trigger any number of flashes as long as they are 420's or 550's. These flashes will have to share groups with other flashes but they will fire.

I have an ST-E2, an 550EX and a 420EX and they work great together... It can be a bit tricky to balance the flash (or at least it is for me) but on the whole, it all works wonderfully.
