Hey guys,
My moms friend is getting married and wanted me to do group shots of the guests. I explained i dont have the right equipment for weddings, ect. but she wouldnt take no for an answer and said "however they come out they come out". Anyways, I was wondering if i should use A-Dep to make sure everyone in the group is in focus?

A-DEP might help you to keep all the people in a group in focus, but I wouldn't rely on it.

A-DEP was included on the entry and mid-level cameras as an easy way to achieve depth of field. It's really a crutch... What you need to do is learn how to use aperture and lens focal length to comtrol your DOF. When you do this, you will have much more control over your images.

Non-photogs really don't care about the details as much as we do. They just want that photo to remember Uncle Ralph (or whoever) was there for the celebration. Put it on full auto and try to fill every memory card you own. She will love them all groups and candids. And you will have more fun too.

Personally I'd just set my camera to about f/8 or f/11 and focus about 1/3 to 1/2 way into the group. I've never used that option on my 20D
