Hi all,
I have been without my camera for a couple of weeks....so this is only my second try with my new Sigma.Anyone got any tips on how to maintain good aperture size(f16-f22) with reasonable shutter speed with an onboard flash? Its difficult I know, but any help would be great.Cheers, and C&C welcome!

Which sigma lens was it you used?
I have to say I really like your first photo. Not sure what it is but I like how it's in flight. And your last photo of the fly. The focus of the eye is fantastic.

Very nice series, you nailed the first shot.
I use the Sigma 105mm and tend to use f/11-f/13 most.

can't quite match the Hoverfly - might be a sp. of Episyrphus or Syrphus. #2 is a nymph of Issus coleoptratus. #3 Green Shieldbug and #4 Drone Fly or similar.
Nice work sir.

In the custom function you can set the flash sync to "fixed 200 shutter speed in Av mode" set your Av, and when the flash is popped up it auto sets the shutter to 1/200th, not a really high shutter but could be worse.:D

Thanks for your advice mate!I have tried that but I find the aperture gets adjusted to the point where I lose my DOF.........

Ah, you are probably using a real macro lens, I'm using my tamron 100-300 and it seems to be ok with the dof. Nice captures by the way, I cant wait to get a real macro setup.

looks like you are using the Sigma 150mm?

A bit of PP sharpening might be nice.

#1 & #3 are cool.

Good series of shots :) Quite like that last shot, some sort of Drone fly at a guess. Congrats on the new lens...

Picture quality falls off if you go too hi on the f stop. My Canon 100 2.8 peaks at around 7 so I try not to shoot above f 11.
