Nice effort with that lense.
I have shot a whole bunch of Motorsport shots with a 90-300 'cheapo' lense and it makes it tough. Mine is a non-usm too, so real slow focus. In fact - I normally revert to manual focus.
Good work.

When I'm shooting with my 90-300 I normally have a keep/throw-away ratio of about 70/30.
I had the pleasure of using a 300mm F2.8 the other week (for the first time) and my ratio was more like 97/3. Amazing lense.
The biggest problem with manual focus is that it takes away any chance you have of getting something unexpected, like a fall or a spin.
Your shots are great for a slow lense. I hear what you're saying about having to shoot a lot to compensate though.

Nice shots, I like the wheelie shot of the motard.
And it is funny you guys mention the keep/discard ratio for the 75-300mm. I went out this weekend and grabbed some shots using my MK III and had about the same luck with things. At first I thought it was the cronic "soft lens" that happens at 300mm, but I had a few turn out quite nicely. Apprently, I need great light and a large subject for the AF to latch on to. Otherwise, things are always just a bit blurry at full zoom.
Again, nice shots, any others worthy of posting? The race tail on the Kawi is darn nice looking. :drools:

i noticed that if i tilt my camera my ration is much higher with the 75-300mm 4/5.6 i'm not sure if its just me, if i feel more comfortable shooting sideways but i do end up with more keepers. Anyone else hve that happen to them?
my ohter problem hhehhehe is the fact that i never shoot anything above 160-shutter-i cant seem to shoot anything above....lol..i just love the feel of speed-something has to be always in motion in the photos
