Just wanted to know if any of you guys change your cf cards at each stage of a wedding? If so, how many times and when?
Thanks!

I don't change for each stage. If I see that the shots will not fit on the card and changing is difficult, I change ahead.

No. I shoot until I am within 20 remaining shots then pop the card into the jobo to backup and start on a new one. I use 2GB CF with 1GB SD backup or 4GB CG with 2GB SD.

Hi from another wedding photographer from the national capital region!
To change CF, I wait until the bride and groom kiss for the first time or when they exchange small metallic rings. They're not looking at the camera then, so no need to take a picture.
But seriously, I just use common sense. If I'm getting low on space for a given event where I know a lot of pictures will be required, I change beforehand. If it's a the reception and only dancing happens, I judge how much space I have left and if there are intermissions coming, etc.

I only change it when I realize that I'll probably have to switch in the middle of something important.

I make sure, especially for the ceremony, that I have a new card in. The last thing I need is to run low on space when they are going for the first kiss - you can't recreate that moment. Ever. Other than that, I try and forecast when I need a new card - I make sure I have plenty of space left for all the 'firsts' - first dance, etc.

There's a rule of thumb I heard about where a photographer will utilize more CF cards as a way to safeguard against losing any valuable data.
Example if an entire wedding is on an 8-gig CF card...what if that card so happens to malfunction prior to downloading...then you're SOL. So some photographers divy up their CF cards as a preventative measure to losing data.
