They have two different styles of boats racing at the same time? Why is that?

It's club racing. They race handicapped so all boats leave at different times, then race either 5 or 10 laps. Theoretically, they all cross the line at the same time. It does get close at times.
Malla, I need your details for the club, they still want you to do the PR thing if you're interested. I'll PM you tomorrow.
Excellent photos as usual!

In the States you obviously call boats by different names, to us a Hydro is either a ly-down or a "kneeler", Run abouts are our "V" Boats.
Barrow (and most other clubs) in the UK run handicap racing where all boats are timed, then set off at different times to complete 5 or 10 laps, where hopefully, they all cross the line around the same time.
If you're ever in the UK, let me know and I'll get you on a Rescue boat either at Barrow or Lancashire.
Look forward to seeing your shots!

Thanks for sharing these. We are going to Guernsey over the coming Bank Holiday weekend and they are having the "Grand Prix" in two classes F200 and V-24
I certainly hope to get some pictures of these. The last time I saw power boats in Guernsey was the World Cup with the Class One boats oh boy they were massive with if I recall a few running twin Lambo engines total 24 litres capacity, one of them lost a prop and there was announcement of a reward for its recovery ~ lots of 35mm slides somewhere in storage!!!!
