Just wondering if anyone around here has any comments about Bay Photo. I just got back a small order (four 11x14's) that I placed with them to see how well they did (or not). Compared to what I have from another lab, 3 of the 4 came out a little brighter and a tad sharper (better than the other lab), while the other 1 was a bit darker. I used their Economy ROES because I didn't want them doing any corrections, just print 'em.

Anyone have any comments about Bay Photo?

That's okay, Mike, at least you know some big names that use them. :D

FWIW - Last week I received a Flush-mount album from Albums Unlimted. They use Bay Photo as their print house. I opted to NOT have them do any correction on the prints. The prints in the book came out wonderfully. Could not be more pleased with either the book (materials/workmanship) or the prints in the book.

I've started using them this year and have been pleased with the results. Quality and packaging have been excellent.

Scott,
Thanks! Have you used any other labs?

Jerry,
Yeah, the packaging is over the top! Prints in a nice plastic sleeve surrounded by cardboard wrapped in tiny bubble wrap in a very sturdy box.

I'm pretty happy with the quality of my little test run. 3 out of 4 prints were better than another lab. It's the one that was a bit dark that concerns me a little.

Yeah, as a SmugMug customer, I get a lot of prints through EZPrints. I've not noticed a significant difference between them. Packaging from EZ is have been top-drawer IMO. Everything up to 8x10 is in a folder, inside an envelope, inside the shipping envelop. If your order is larger, things get put into shipping tubes. I once had an order with 4x6, 8x10, 11x14 - The larger stuff was in the tube, each end packed with air pillows. The tube was in a box, as was the envelop with the 4x6 (inside a nice folder inside an envelope) and the 8x10 (again inside a folder, inside and envelop).

Through SmugMug, the prints come with a 100% guarantee. You don't like them, say so and the get re-done. No questions. No need to ship the problem back to them. Just e-mail them and it's taken care of and, I think, the new shipment is sent priority, but I could be wrong on that one.
