View Full Version : Wedding gone awry....

I was scheduled to shoot a beautifully landscaped wedding on 5 acres, with free roaming horses and all. Well, the weather did not decide to cooperate. It's April, and here in Texas, that means warm weather. It started raining, hailing, and sleeting, and was down to 32deg. The poor bride, not having much of a backup, only the tent, was forced to have her dream wedding in an old fireman's hall. You can only guess how difficult it was to acquire any good shots of this day, since it wasn't even decorated accordingly. I did my best, and in any location that I found suitable for a background, I only had about 3 ft of space to work.
I will be posting some of the pictures as I process them. I appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Thank You! http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g74/autumnsunn/HollyMichaelWedding136sepia.jpg

you would be surprised waht you can turn out in places like that - use your imagination! its probably a good idea to have a back up plan for inclement weather - prior to 'the day'. maybe in the future you could scope out the venue beforehand and decide what you could do should the weather fall bad. i'm from texas... i know how the weather is there......:p

i'm sure all will be fine. looking forward to the pics.

Same thing happened on my wedding day ... last year we got the back-end of hurricane Ornesto up here in Ontario ... the only day of the month/day/year it poured ... all day and all night ... and usually our summers are hot hot hot .... good luck there!! We know how that bride feels! (p.s. our photographer did some great shots despite the indoors-only locale)

I'd lose the doorframe. Its nice shot. The poor bride looks a little fed up, as I imagine anyone in her shoes would.

That's too bad about the weather, For the first one, I don't think it's as flattering as it could be (just her left arm), and the hands seem a little awkward to me. Even though you only had a few feet of space, at least it was a fairly interesting wall! ;)

Taken in a very narrow stairway.

All of these images where you have her pressing her arms to her sides really emphasizes her weight. You need to have her standing so that she can keep her arms away from her sides to show some separation and not make the fat on her upper arm spread. The first image would have been much better if she was standing with her left hand on her hip or holding her flowers a little away from her body. That not only pulls the arms away from the body, flexing the bicep helps 'streamline' the arm.

(Also, just as an aside - i think you mean the day went "awry" not "array")

I hear you on the weather. Looks like you made the most of a difficult situation. :)

I got married on January 19th in San Antonio, and during that week was a terrible icestorm, so our outdoor wedding got moved inside. My parents finally were able to fly in the morning of the wedding!

It was out of character for San Antonio, but 32 in April, yikes!
