I'm looking for an ultra wide angle lens or a fisheyes lens for cheap. Which lens delievers decent quality for the price? I'm guessing a prime fisheye would be the cheapest. I'm not looking for a 10-22 or a Sigma 10-20 yet.

Peleng 8mm fish runs about $300..$250 if you wait for a deal on these forums long enough. Zenitar 16mm fish runs about $200, maybe less on ebay. Both are great lenses for the money. The Peleng will produce a noticeably more "fishy" effect than the Zen, but both will be quite wide. However, if you're going to shell out $300 or maybe more for a Peleng, you could save the extra hundred for a 10-20 Sigma ;)

Sigma and Tokina's are the cheapest UWA's, so you're only cheaper option is a zenitar 16mm fisheye.

Because of the price?
Make sure you know what you want.. are you really looking for the fisheye effect or just under the impression that fisheye primes may be cheaper (although you ideally prefer a standard rectilinear UWA)?

The Peleng 8mm is the cheapest, and gives pretty good results - there are a few threads with pictures from that lens, and people who know what they are doing get amazing results. but fishies are hard to use well, and it would be easy to tire of the effect - so your plan to spend as little as possible is wise!

Are those Optekas under $100 basically trash?

Just the fisheye effect. Contrary to what many people prefer, I like distortion.

Yes, the optekas for $100 are crap.
Rectilinnear lenses offer lots of distortion. What kind of shot are you looking at getting?

I would be shooting all kinds of things. One of the primary themes I would be trying to obtain from a fisheye is that "underground" band theme (shooting walls with graffiti at night etc.)
