For some reason, I seem to be really down at the moment. Strange, spring is here in the UK and you'd think that it's a time of year to be looking forward. But, even my photography seems to be taking a "back-seat". :(
Can anyone suggest some projects, or something photograpy related to give me a bit of a kick start?

Take the 30D with the 50mm, and walk around a populated area, maybe a small park close to your place. Look at people's faces. Wonder what they are thinking, or feeling. Try to capture it on camera. After a couple hours and a hundred frames, go back home and post here the five pics you liked the most, and one or two that you consider the strangest.
Looking forward to it. :)

Everybody gets down from time to time. I find by late Feb I am lower than a snake's belly, but when the clocks change and the day length is more civilised I start to cheer up.
It really depends how seriously out of sorts you feel - there is a huge difference between being a bit down, and being clinically depressed - that is an actual illness with a biochemical cause. If you are depressed you need to seek help from your GP, and not to be ashamed. It really is no different to having any other illness, yet there is such a stigma attached to it, that can leave people in such misery.
If you just need a bit of motivation, the best thing I can think of is take your camera on some hikes - fresh air, exercise and the lovely spring feel - that's bound to cheer you up. Or take a day trip to a town you've never been to before ( somewhere nice, I mean!) or anything really.
I hope you feel a bit better as Spring progresses, and don't forget to get help if you need it. Good luck!

I feel the same way right now. I can't get into my photography as much. I think it's mostly due to the weather. Our time change was early this year, but this spring has been yucky so far. We're due to get lots of snow this week! New England had feet of snow last week! It's miserable.
Yesterday we had two hours of sunlight and I went out and snapped some photos to cheer myself up.
I do know someone who doesn't have winter depression, but has spring depression. She gets real down and has to plan lots of fun things to do to cheer herself up.
Maybe try doing stuff you really enjoy. Take a day off or work if you can and just have fun. If you don't feel better soon see your dr.
Take care

Thanks for the advice everyone! I haven't really had time to get out with my camera, so instead, I decided to go through all my old files and put together a collection showing my friends smiling.
Anyway, HERE (http://martinneep.zenfolio.com/p564930763/?slideshow=1) it is.

Hey, I like that series. My favorite would have to be #10, with all the rest as a very close second. I am not sure what you folks were cooking, but I am positive there is a story behind it. Did you post that pic before, as some friends that came over and cooked this new thing at your place, or something like that?...
My shrink just upped my dosage of anti-depressant. I am still down, but now I am dizzy. I think that is the strategy, everytime I feel like I am being spinned about, I tend to forget what was making me sad. So overall, I would have to say the medicine is working.
Good job so far. You still need to get your arse out there, and take a duck photo. Or anything else. You deserve it, and we demand it !...
Cheers,

I have posted it before. She's my brother's girlfriend and got roped into boiling up some weird slop for him to use as fishing bait. Certainly not something that I would want to eat!
I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better mjgravina. It's just a shame that it comes with the price of feeling dizzy. :(
For me, today was a better day, hopefully the dark fog is lifting. Heaven knows what brought this on? I've never had anything like this happen to me before, but very scary non the less! I would never have belived that my own mind could make me feel so sad.

Go to a cafe.
Try to guess who is romancing, who is in love, and who is married.

Spend loads of money on a new lens or camera body - You know you'll feel better for it (until the CC statement arrives anyway :-))
Bluebells are starting to come out (in the south anyway), the sun is shining and I'm at work
