aaaaaah, Grasshopper. . . . the question is
If you buy an XTi at noon and hate yourself in the morning, can you draw an elephant?
When you answer that, then and only then, will you be on the road to true photographic enlightenment.

I love the members here.

First of all, the OP didn't have a question, just an observation. Hijacking is something we do for fun and springs up some other interesting topics. When people answer the threads I start, I actually expect some to go off topic. It's what happens. But you can always post again, and ask again in your own thread. Sometimes that works. As for the friendly nature of this forum, it's really quite wonderful.

O-kay, I have an XP1900= on an Abit KG& RAID Mobo, with with one GB RAM (2x corsair 512)

I have Seti queue installed on this system, and a seit text client,.
I also have three other crunchers (also XPAthlons on the same mobo) networked,)

But I can;t get the other three seti clients to talk to the Seti Queue..
How do I get them to get there woots from the Seti queue instead of berkely, and send the finished WU's to the queue instead of Berlkley?

Thanks in advance.

To set it to the green square, you must first go to a greenhouse and sit on a square paving brick. Then spin 3 times while chanting "bibbidybobbidyboo", throw the camera up in the air and when it lands it will be set on the green square.

Tell the bride and groom that wedding shots are passe and that what they really need are honeymoon shots. They will then take you to Tahiti with them and you can shoot them on the beach. Be sure to purchase a disposable camera for this job, since you don't want sand in your good camera because it chases away the green square.

So, moderators have the same problem that prosecuters do...

It's illegal to look at child pornography, but in order to prosecute someone for looking at child pornography, you must look at the child pornography they were looking at. Then, the prosecuter looking at the child pornography the accused was looking at is him/herself looking at child pornography, which is technically breaking the same law they are prosecuting the accused for breaking.

Kinda like shooting someone to prevent them from committing the felony crime of suicide.

Sad that Belmondo felt he had to auto-zap... I claim dibs on his equipment!

Terracotta works but only if it has been sprayed with WD-40 to displace moisture and preserve color or else your IQ will be lower than 40. Paving brick should be directly on the earth with a tilt of 4 degrees in each direction both ways in order to ensure proper vignetting. Doing it on a stack is obscene, stay out of builder yards, sheesh!

I'm not aware that looking at child pornography is illegal. Its the possession, transmission, purchase, etc. that is illegal. Its just too hard to proescute someone for looking at something. Interestingly, if you knowingly possess, transmit, purchase child pornography, but never look at it, you can be prosecuted. Kinda like being a non-smoker who buys a stash of pot, I guess.

p.s. I got dibs on the equipment MONTHS ago.

So, you're saying the state is a child pornographer?

Besides, even if it is property of the state (which it is, no argument), it is still in the possession of the prosecutor.

Saying that kilo of hashish they found in your hall closet is your friend's stash is irrelevant. It was still in your possession.

I think by definition the pornography laws apply to "persons" and not states. Note that most laws include corporations as "persons".

Possession implies control. The prosecutor has no control over the evidence, he cannot destroy it, sell it, etc. In fact, he must sign it out of the evidence room when he needs it. The state has possession and control.

If your friend does not live in your house, then you will probably be presumed to be in control of the hashish because you could have cleaned out your closet and thrown it away. If your friend pays rent on a room and the closet is in his room, your possession and control is limited. Generally not a problem unless you tick off the wrong people. ;)

Also, civil actions are not criminal actions.

I shoot with a bunch of Nikon users, and I've become very self-conscious about these red rings on my lenses. Any suggestions on how to get rid of them? Or should I just cover them with tape.

Duct tape is the most magical substance on earth and even in the cosmos. It is capable of repairing everything except for one thing.

You're too busy playing with a monopod!;)
Nice to know that monopod talk is still going strong. Its hard to drop such a penetrating topic which accounts for it going for as long as it has. But even the most resilient monopod conversation has a climax and it is difficult to resume active conversation one the monopod discussion had delivered all it has to give.

I have that EXACT same problem!! Now is this a small world or what? I'll tell ya what worked for me: Petromalt!! Yup, the kitty hairball remedy. Rub it on the red ring and let kitty take over. You get a good lens cleaning this way too and you won't need to go to Woolburr's camera shop! After about three applications of Petromalt the disgusting red ring will be gone!

Sheesh! Go away for a few minutes, and the thread deteriorates so rapidly it's almost unrecognizable!

The cat managed to catch and tear off his right dewclaw (that's "thumb" to you non-cat types) last week. I treated it topically, but it became infected because he wouldn't stop licking it. (Cat spit is not the best of antiseptics, despite old wives' tales) I had to take him in Monday for minor surgery. They removed the remainder of the dewclaw, cauterized the area, etc.

Today he is in for a follow-up, rebandaging, etc. I'll be picking him up after lunch.

25 miles each way to the vet. Ah! The joys of rural living!

And as for Belmondo's self-imposed ban not working... I noticed that he very carefully didn't say for how long he was banned. Ten minutes, perhaps? Whatever, it's still a ban. Yea verily, he lieth not.

cylentka
11th of April 2007 (Wed), 13:04
Poor kitty. Hope he gets a clean bill of health today. I had to drive home over my lunch hour to give my cat his heart medicine because I forgot it this morning. My bad!! Its also about 25 minutes each way, from downtown to the outer suburbs. Freezing rain all the way didn't help. Where is spring??

I think it was more like a 10 second ban for Belmondo, but since he hasn't silenced me yet I suppose I shouldn't get too picky. ;)

Hmmm.. back to monopod talk. Well I have a monopod but its such a pain to carry it around all the time. Its too heavy and when backpacking it just sort of swings there leaving bruises. I have even tried to sling my monopod over my shoulder but it keeps slipping off. What I need is a good place to put my monopod. ;)

Aren't cameras always girls?
Most assuredly.

Duct tape is the most magical substance on earth and even in the cosmos. It is capable of repairing everything except for one thing.

Nice to know that monopod talk is still going strong. Its hard to drop such a penetrating topic which accounts for it going for as long as it has. But even the most resilient monopod conversation has a climax and it is difficult to resume active conversation one the monopod discussion had delivered all it has to give.

WOW!!! A moderator zapping himself. Maybe he is off investigating the finer points of his monopod.

Hmmm... Interesting point. Maybe thats why its so hard to find all the right buttons and i tend to dwell on the ones that deliver results.

I was wondering what happened to the hash? ;) :D
With popsicle sticks, duct tape will work for everything!

The good thing about some monopods is that they have a very short refractory period. Those are my favorites.

I keep a monopod and a sleeping bag in the truck at all times. that way I am ready for 'most anything.

Gaffers tape is nice, but it tears too easily and does not handle long exposure to the elements. Duct tape is beastly. It sticks on everything, leaves a sticky residue, and can be used outside for years before falling apart. I have had the passenger side rear view mirror taped on the truck for 6 years. Every other year, I just put a little more on there to make it look nice, but it’s still holding fast. I actually found a even more beastly tape. It’s called Gorilla tape. It’s thick, sticky, and once applied, won’t come off unless mass quantities of toxic chemicals are used.

ahhh you see it all depends how you treat your roll of gaffer

gaffer needs to be treated with love warmth and care

keep it in a warm place before use then when you use it make sure the aplicant is dry and then when taping making sure that it sticks to its self

will last a life time

also using gaffer and not the cheep spin offs will always help

I would get more charged up about games if the players were actually from the state/area their team represents. The Indianapolis Colts mean nothing to me because none of the players are Hoosiers. Who cares if they win? They aren't "us". Of course this would screw up the entire draft mechanism.

I hate to constantly show off my stupidity, but who the heck is Lord Byron? ... Lord Byron is a 19th century poet and writer.

My soul is dark - Oh! quickly string
The harp I yet can brook to hear;
And let thy gentle fingers fling
Its melting murmurs o'er mine ear.
If in this heart a hope be dear,
That sound shall charm it forth again:
If in these eyes there lurk a tear,
'Twill flow, and cease to burn my brain.

I prefer this one:

He is not drunk
Who from the floor
Can rise again
And drink still more.

But he is drunk
Who prostrate lies
And can neither
Drink nor rise.

Jon

"What do you get when you multiply 6x9?". Since this equation only works out correctly in base 13, obviously the human experience is flawed and we can never know the meaning of life except indirectly.

You should never leave it in the car. It gets to hot &/or cold to leave it in the car. There is condensation and fog to consider. What are you thinking?

Well, if there is fog and condensation it finally has something to do, something to make its existence meaningful. I mean, what can be crueler than to design something for a purpose and then keep it from doing said purpose? That’s just mean.
