View Full Version : My new(?) D60 starts at 1752 frame!

I just received my D60 from B&H yesterday. Anxiously, I shot a couple of frames, only to discover that the numbering scheme started at number 1752 instead of 1. Camera looks new, but Canon does not seal the body in the wrapping material, so I have no way of telling if it was used before or not. Has anybody seen this before? Should I worry about getting used merchandise?

TIA,

Panagiotis.

Hmm, I can't say for certain but it does sound like that camera has been used. I can tell you that my camera indeed started at 1 (actually, I just checked and the first image I can find is IMG_0002 but I may have deleted 1).

I'd call bh and expect a new camera.

Is it possible you were using a CF which had been used earlier on another camera? My old Olympus started at 1 but jumped to 3000 as I inserted my Microdrive which I had used with my old G1.

But I formated the card inside the D60 *before* I started shooting with it.

Formatting the card would still cause the D60 to continue the sequence.
If you should get a new camera ( maybe next time), erase the directories from your CF card from within Windows Explorer, THEN format the card in the camera.

Maybe just the CF card is used. The store may have used it to show off a demo (lots), then packed it up to send to you...if you ordered the card at the same time as the D60 of course....

Just my 2 cents....
