Hi, my name is Fred and I am fairly new to this community. I have a question...if I want to get into engagement shooting, would it be best to have a contract? Or just have a model release to self-promote? I have seen a lot of contract stuff regarding the wedding day, but I couldn't find much legal information about engagement shots only. Thanks!
Mario.

I don't really mean to threadjack, so I'm super sorry. But I am curious as to why you only want to do engagement shoots?
In any case, I would treat it like a standard portrait photoshoot and have model release contracts, yes. :)

Well, I did an engagement shoot for a friend recently and they were really liked them, so I thought I could do one or two more and then start charging. I know that a lot of wedding photographers already include an engagement session, so I'm not expecting anything huge to come of it. Also, I am not comfortable doing weddings yet. I am going to be a second shooter at two weddings this summer, so we'll see what happens after those roll around.
