LOTs of C& C Appreciated. There are so many things that I would have loved to change about this shoot now that I have learned a little more. Please critique as all will be considered as constructive critis...
Mistake 1. I used two colours of light (my other bulb burned out and I didn't have a simular spare)
2. I should have taken the pictures a larger point of focus. Don't know if you can tell from these pictures, but with all of the photos you can definately see it in a lot of the shots.
3.The shadow in the third picture on her face I thought I could easily edit out. *not the case for me.
4. They wanted all their portraits taken in landscape orientation and I don't think the poses I chose worked well for that.
5. The whites are overblown on the last pick and I should have had her put her arms around him instead of resting the one on the floor. Damn.

Hi, for the shadow on her face just use the clone tool and pick up from her forehead and cheek but only use a max of 20% and build it up with each brush till ot looks good.

This is the easyest way there are better ways but more envolved

Next time it might be worth giving them a blurb about what to wear and stuff. Her makeup is way too strong. I usually tell people (for this type of shoot) to wear the makeup they normally wear. Mind you some people actually do go about wearing thick black eyeliner (which irritates me in case taht wasn't clear already) and there's not much you can do about that and remain polite (unless someone more experianced has input).

Other than that the photos aren't bad. You know that the horizontal looks a little odd. Was there any particular reason they wanted them all horizontal? I can see requesting that there is one, for a specific use, but insisting that they all be horizontal seems a little odd to me. I think I would have spoken up and said that I would take pictures as I saw fit and make sure there was a horizontal one (of course not being so blunt...).

The horizontal was because they were putting them on their wedding invitations and needed them that way.

on a side note funny thing...her mom is a make up artist.

Thanks for you comments. I really appreciate them. The se up was done with home made lights. one mini soft box about 45 deg. in front on my right, a small hair light from abouve and a small homade barn door on the other side.

These are pretty good, the two different lights would be kind of frustrating to get things to color balance properly. My only thing is in #3 and #4 the heads are at too much of an angle, they don't look real comfortable. Other then that good job.
