RE: Stroboframe Pro-T
That's a bummer. I tried to order an anti-twist bracket on B&H's website but wasn't sure which one to order. I called Tiffen (Stroboframe too I guess) and she said they only make the anti-twist bracket for the camera WITHOUT the vertical grip and that the cork would suffice. The cork really doesn't do a good job.
Any comments or ideas?
TIA,
Dan

I think I am in a similar position. I have the Pro-T, but I'm not sure what you mean by 'vertical grip'...is this the grip that results when adding the Canon BG-ED3? I bought an anti-twist for the EOS3, but also could not find one for the 10D (which might work with an Elan plate?)
Do you think the 550EX is considered a heavy enough flash to require the anti-twist plate? I've been told from a fellow user that even the anti-twist plate has limited results. If so, I might have to put the 420EX on there.

I believe that the anti-twist plate is for the camera, not the flash.

Sorry for the confusion, I am using the anti-plate for the Pro-T to camera body connection, but they recommend the plate's use if the flash is heavy.

I use the Pro-T and my anti-twist plate has 35-H stamped on it, so one exists despite what the idiot at Tiffen told you. The cork DOES NOT suffice and if you use the bracket without the metal anti-twist plate you won't use it more than once.
This 35-H ATP is for the 10D with the vertical grip and I just want to make this clear. For the other writer the 550EX flash has more than enough weight to require the metal ATP; and as far as that goes, I would be concerned even with the weight of the smaller 420EX.

Thanks Dave for the clarification and the warning...I'll be placing my order for the 35H. I guess this means the 10D body is very similar to the Elans?

Thanks for making that clear. Unreal that that don't know their own products. And you're right about the bracket: I probably wouldn't even put it back on the 10D given the rediculaous amount of movement.

They've got them in stock at B&H right now...none in stock at Adorama.

I want to make clear again that the 35H is the bracket for the BG-ED3 vertical grip. It is NOT for the camera alone. It may well work, although I doubt it, and any similarity with the Elans is just luck.

Thanks again Dave. I'll be using it with the BG-ED3...looks like I'll be needing it anyway to counterbalance the bracket setup.

And B&H don't know either. They generalize all digital cameras:
Hello,
I am sorry, Stroboframe does not make Anti Twist plates for Digital cameras at this
time.

I tried out the Stroboframe Anti Twist "300EOS" on the 10D without a grip. It's a close fit, but you might want to add some additional cork because it still has room to torque another sixteenth of an inch or so. One bad thing is that you don't have quick access to change your battery with the bracket on.
The guy at a very reputable camera store here recommended the generic "300SLR" to work on the 10D with AND without the BG-ED3. IT DID NOT. Stick with Dave's suggestion earlier and use the 35H if you have a grip.
