430 EX or 550 EX???...... [Archive] - Canon Digital Photography Forums

I have only been taking pics with a built in flash to date. I have some extra case and want to get a flash so I can work more on my photography skills.
My best friend wants me to take her wedding pictures this Fall and I know a flash will help tremedously.
I would consider myself an Amateur at photography and I am striving to be a professional some day.

I have read feedback on B & H (as I think that is the cheapest place to buy a new flash) and am confused as to which one I should buy.

Any thoughts/feedback would be GREATLY appreciated.

In terms of the capabilities of either of these two units as a single, on-camera flash, they are quite similar. The 550EX has a bit more power. The 550EX is a discontinued model.
