As promised, here is an update: Look for USA authorized dealer shipments of the EOS-1D Mark II to begin during the week of May 3. A few Mark IIs might be shipped to USA authorized dealers during the week of April 26th, but there are no guarantees of that. I have no shipping information for other countries.

On a related matter, the USA delivery schedules for the EF28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM and EF70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM lenses have been delayed until the month of June.

Well, we've waited this long. I called CDW yesterday, and my rep told me that my order status hadn't changed since they first posted 'back ordered' all those weeks ago. They're still saying May 10, and I'm number 15. Do you suppose they actually know something? Anyway, he also told me they now have over 90 Mk IIs on back-order.

I was at the Canon Service Facility in Irvine dropping off my 100-400 yesterday, and spoke to the person at the reception desk about the possible ship date, and she was more in the dark than I was.

Canon is really good at keeping secrets. I will give them credit for that.

There has been a change in schedule, and the result is that Canon USA will start shipping the EOS-1D Mark II to authorized dealers this week. This information supercedes the announcement I posted here on April 19th.

I do not have, and will not post, any specific information on quantities or allocations. Please check with your local dealers for further information on pricing and availability. Also, this announcement refers specifically to USA shipments. I have no information about shipping schedules for other countries.

The new software (DPP, EVU) will be in the box together with the camera. The on-line versions are still scheduled for posting in mid-May as of this writing. If the posting schedule changes, it will be announced here.

YES!!!!.... I was actually thinking I would have to break down and get a 1Ds to fill the void rather than wait for the MkII. The longer I have to wait the more I think I could do with the 1Ds speed..... I must hold out....... My king fu must become stronger.......

I am also told 10 May as a delivery date from CDW. I supppose I can hold out that long.....


Has anyone else noticed the irony..? I've waited almost 3 months for the camera and am paying extra for overnight delivery.....? Ya...I'm an addict.....I admit it.

My first wife was from the Georgian Bay area. Markdale to be exact. In my youth I DJ'd at the local radio station...CFOS or as we liked to call it "Can't Find Owen Sound" Used to spend a lot of time at Wasaga Beach I think....sort of a cloudy haze back then :lol:
