Took a shot at converting a picture of 3 Papillions and 1 Papillion mix to an oil painting. The owner of the dogs loves it and is going to order it printed on a 16x20 canvas.

Very cool. Mind sharing the technique you used?

I did this with the smudge painting technique. There was a thread a while back about virtual oil paintings and I bought the instructional dvd on how to do this. Very good stuff.

I have been trying to figure out if I want those DVDs or not. I want to try it but don't have a ton of time to devote to learning it.

I watched the oil painting technique once. This was my 2nd picture I have done since watching the technique. It is really easy to learn and I am very pleased with the results so far. I am about 80% through the pastel painting dvd and that one looks to be a little more detailed to me, but also very simple.
I think I spent a couple of hours with the DVD, wrote down the important tweaks and haven't watched it since. I bought them because I don't have a lot of time to devote to learning this technique and I think it was money well spent.
Good luck with you decision.
