I'm still on the fence. Just checking to see how everyone is doing with their D60's.
Thanks.

I love it! I have a D30, 1D and D60 and find I am using the D60 more then the 1D, (for my type of work strobes are normally used so frames persecond are limited to strobe speed not camera, and I have modeling lights so focus has never been a problem) Its a shame the 1D is a great camera but all of the great "features" are ones I dont use the biggest benifit is the body. So my vote is for the D60 or two anyday. Now when a 1Ds comes out thats another story.
Here is a link to a D60 vs D30 comparison, and a real fast D60 gallery, not my best stuff just a test of a friend and the camera.

Stephen,
Your side by side comparisons are interesting and appear to show the benefit of the extra resolution of the D60. Although I think the larger size of the D60 image does have some influence of the subjective assessment.
Out of curiosity have you compared the D60 to an upsized D30?
How has your workflow changed from the D30 to the D60?

hi stephen......
what lenses are you using with the d60? have you used the sigma 17-35 f2.8/4 zoom lens(about 400 quid).... ? the canon lenses are very expensive, are there any other options for the d60.....?
your thoughts please............ian

hello, I have compared the D60 to an upsized D30 and there is still a difference in the D60 favor, and on upsampling to very large sizes the D60 has an advantage at about one third larger at least.
My workflow has changed substantially actually mainly because I used bibble for D30 files and now use breezebrowser for D60 files, I still convert everything from raw to high quality jpgs for space reasons, and then when specifics are choosen I convert the raw to tif 16 or 8 bit, usually nonlinear unless I need the extra highlight detail. I am learning to like breezebrowser but I preferred bibble, probably because i was familiar with it. The D60 conversions are much slower but thats probably because of there size and not program related.
I have used the Sigma lens but would prefer the canon hands down, I personally dont use wide angles much but would say that the 17-35 L and now the 16-35 L are great lenses. I genaerally use the 35-350 L as my main use lens, I love the range and have printed billboards with no sharpness problem at all. I dont usually shoot 2.8 I mainly am in the 5.6 - 8.0 range so spped has never been a problem for me. The main lenses I use are the 35-350 L 70-200 2.8 L and the 28-70 2.8 L for wide I have a 19-35 that has been used once, its not great for fashion and beauty really, I have used it for some cool fashion perspective shots.

on the issue of the sigma 17-35 I do prefer the 15-30mm even if its a little slower and overall sigma has been given a bad rep, I have always found them sharp, I also like the tokina pro lenses they are sharp as well. Both are considerably less then a Canon L

Got my D60 about three weeks ago and I am still just blown away by how good the images are. I haven't really noticed the slow focus that some others have mentioned. Seems OK to me.
Would I do it again - you bet! I delivered one set of birthday pictures a few days ago, and got nothing but compliments about the vividness, sharpness, and clarity of the images. In another case a D60 group shot was chosen by the customer over one taken with a Mamiya 7. I am NOT saying the d60 has better image quality than a 7, but it is close enough so that, in this case, the person could choose the shot with the better pose and expressions.

i've been using my D60 for everything since i got it- macro, aquarium, kids- everything but landscapes (wide angle stuff). it obviously does not behave just like my 1n, but so far i'm all smiles. as everyone has heard- the image quality is awesome. i haven't printed anything bigger than 8x10 but those look excellent- and most of them weren't even from raw files.
since i haven't been able to get out of town i've mostly been using it for photos of saltwater aquarium critters- and it's great for that.
