Uploading pictures in EE 1.22???

I've just installed EE 1.22 and have no idea how to upload my pictures now? I have the relative paths pointing to http://www.mydomain.com/public/stock/D30_photos/thumb/ and /microthumb/

and see the default images that come with EE, but can't see any of mine which I have uploaded to this directory via FTP... I have chmod 777 these folders...

Also, do I just upload one image say 600X400 pixels and EE takes care of the other sizes?

So confused, help would be greatly appreciated!

I would uninstall 1.22 and go for a full install of 1.5rc4 have a look at Pekkas post http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=29266 there is also a pointer for "newbies" to learn how to set up.
