Ah, Cricket, Lovely Cricket... It's so nice to see them wearing whites. I hate the new colorful uniforms... it's just not right!

BTW, if you are trying to figure out how a guy in Miami, Florida likes Cricket, I lived in Jamaica for years and used to play golf with Sir Garfield Sobers when he was in town. He taught me to understand the game... dumb Yank that I am... ;)

Looking at trying to cover some first class cricket matches this year (in North West so Lancashire)

As a freelance do I need to obtain licence or can I shoot the one off games that I wish to cover?

Great shots by the way, what camera, Lens etc did you use?

Chris GillHi Chris,

Cricket doesn't work under the same kind of licencing restrictions that apply to the Football League/Premiership matches - i.e. there isn't the same set of strict policies exercising tight control over usage etc...

However, each County side does issue its own season pass to photographers. This can be obtained from the media officer at the ground. Your application needs to be accompanied by a letter of authorisation from your usual commissioning editor(s).

It is also possible to apply for an ECB pass that allows a season's access to all the County grounds (except Lord's). The deadline for applications for the 2007 season has already passed though. If you do apply for the ECB pass in future years, your application must be supported by a body of published cricket images and references from commissioning editors.

Hope that helps!

These pics were shot with a EOS 1D MKII + 400mm f/2.8 + 2x extender.

Cheers!
