I'm thinking to buy a remote shutter-release. the one that I planned to buy is the RC-1.

One question to ask, is it possible to half-press the RC-1, then the drebel will performing auto-focus?

So i can make a self-portrait, just mount the drebel on a tripod with sufficient height, then I just sit, half-press the remote (it will focus on me), then fully pressed to release the shutter.

Thanks & regards,

Loekito

In a word, no.

However, when you press the remote button, it'll do all the focusing for you before triggering the shutter. Just don't forget to cover up the eyepiece so that you don't get any false exposure readings from the stray light coming in through the eyepiece.

Unless you are shooting in manual mode (like with studio lights). Then you don't have to cover the eye piece.

No to what?

you can half press the shutter and get an AF and exposure without triggering the shutter itself?

Just curious what the "No" part is?

You misinterpreted what the original poster's question was.

PacAce gave a one word answer to the only question.

Hi guys, thanks for the respond.

Still got confused with the answer "No"..

Anyway, my friend using remote on his G5, and he got the same effect if he half-press the remote, or full-press the remote, just the same effect when he half-press/full-press the shutter release in his G5.

And that's what I thinking, what the remote suppose to be.

But don't know about the RC-1, did this guy will also give the same functionality with the one that G5 had.

Just tested my RC-1 with my DR....push the RC-1...the camera autofocuses then the shutter releases. No half-way setting.

My Mistake, I was thinking of the remote I have for the 10D which is NOT the RC1 (won't work with 10D) I got the names muddled.. it is the RS80 that has the half way position...

Sorry...
