Hi there, I know this may sound strange but has anyone used this for portraits / candid portraits ?

could you post examples / samples and experiences of hand holding for periods of time.

I am very seriously thinking about buying one of these in the next week or so, but since I dont shoot much sport any more it would be more for concerts, candid portraits and beach glamour etc.

thanks

I've used it to shoot some adhoc stuff on the fly of people. I can say that I doubt that I would put it on my camera specifically for that purpose. It is a good lens for isolating the subject from the background but I have other lenses that work just as well and are not as large and heavy.

I don't see why the lens cannot be used for what you want other than its physical stats. If you want to work low light settings like sunsets you are going to have to tripod it to avoid camera shake. If you have something much lighter you can handhold in equivalent lighting much easier.
